Marc Simon's text is accepted as the most authoritative presentation of Hart Crane's work available to us. His visionary epic, The Bridge, is the most ambitious and accomplished long poem since Walt Whitman's Song of Myself. Despite much critical misunderstanding and neglect, in his own time and in ours, Crane achieved a superb poetic style, idiosyncratic yet central to American tradition. He suffered also from his honesty as a homosexual poet and lover during a period in American life unsympathetic to his sexual orientation. A born poet, totally devoted to his art, Crane suffered his warring parents as well as long periods of a hand-to-mouth existence. Born in Garrettsville, Ohio, on July 21, 1899, Crane died at sea on April 27, 1932, an apparent suicide. Hart Crane, prodigiously gifted and tragically doom-eager, was the American peer of Shelley, Rimbaud, and Lorca. This edition features a new introduction by Harold Bloom as a centenary tribute to the visionary of White Buildings (1926) and The Bridge (1930).

Yes I love Étienne and I like Cricket, but Josh is just so real! This story is a roller coaster of emotions. I mean, Étienne then Cricket and there goes Josh. At first I thought of not reading it anymore because I was so obsessed with Étienne and because Josh has a really boring name compared to the first two. I have to say that this is my favorite among the three. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart. To hide their lies people try to show their good side and feeds and their truthfulness. Here are some of the deception points in the book: Still, I felt like I learned a bit more on spotting deception, though I am no expert. Or rather, I’m sure the CIA has used this information to train its interrogators, but the skills aren’t anything too in depth, which I was disappointed by. However, I don’t think any of the skills they were teaching were CIA trade secrets (unsurprisingly). I can imagine their course is even better. Regardless, I loved the appendices and the examples they gave throughout the book, including the do-it-yourself ones where they give you a chance to test your skills and then explain their reasoning. Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy (1891) is a weep throughout and sob at the end kind of novel. Zora Neale Hurston (1901-1960) was a novelist, folklorist, anthropologist and playwright whose fictional and factual accounts of black heritage are unparalleled. With this collection, Zora Neale Hurston has come to reveal'and preserve'a beautiful and important part of American culture. In her quest, she found herself and her history throughout these highly metaphorical folk-tales, "big old lies," and the lyrical language of song. In the 1930's, Zora Neale Hurston returned to her "native village" of Eatonville, Florida to record the oral histories, sermons and songs, dating back to the time of slavery, which she remembered hearing as a child.
